It's interesting to consider that virtually everything is in our mind. Depression is just thoughts; albeit, self-defeating thoughts. Health is also thought. Love is thought. Happiness is thought, as is unhappiness. We live in a world of thought and because it is our thoughts, we each create our own world around us from the choices of thoughts within. Our thoughts rule our lives. That is perfect when it is recognized as such, and when it is not, well. . . the word pinball comes to mind.
I love the quote above, but I might not feel the same where the word conquer is used. Conquering fear is most often painful and the stronger the fear, the more painful it is. It reminds me of putting a rowboat in a fast moving stream and then rowing upstream with all our might. That's not a way that I would choose to go about it, so I will leave conquering to those who enjoy that kind of work.
Consider this great quote from Henry David Thoreau: "What's the use of a fine house if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on?" Our outlook, or how we see the world has everything to do with how things turn out.
Some think that the physical rules. They think that what is happening around them rules how things turn out. But, that is just the tail wagging the dog. Even with them, it comes back to the fact that they are choosing that thought, doesn't it?
One more quote from Thoreau fits here: "There is no value in life except what you choose to place upon it and no happiness in any place except what you bring to it yourself."
